Majority Rule
If cowardice is measured by the pain you inflict on others,Then the most cowardly of them all may be the world itself. The nicest among us arch their backs as they walk. They trample the metropolis underfoot in retaliation.
The times don’t change, they’re torn asunder. They, who march against the fierce headwind, set off. They, the poor isolated souls whose breath was halted,Wear their best brave faces, echoing through the empty downtown.
If our values and our morals should follow majority rule,There might just be a chance that we were born in the wrong place. No matter. We don’t care. Our rooms become our little corner of the world.Whether today or tomorrow, we’ll wait for our chance to arrive.
All in favor? All opposed?Weigh the pros and cons.Raise your hand to speak.
The majority thrust trouble upon the rest. Those who have devour those who don’t.The strong feel good when they beat down the weak. The city sees the countryside as nothing but a garbage dump.
If war truly is the only option left to humanity,Then it looks like evolution didn’t work out for us after all.In truth, we’re just beasts who feign intelligence. We should’ve known that hunger makes the ultimate motive.
If what’s peculiar and common sense should follow majority rule,It just might be obvious that we shouldn't trust it at all.No matter. We don’t care. We’ve left this town behind us.Becoming the villain might not be such a bad idea after all.
All in favor? All opposed?Weigh the pros and cons.Raise your hand to speak.
Count our money. Count our honors.Count our friends. Count our medals. Count our victories. Count our prizes.Count how many times we tried hard and were praised. But you can’t put a number to our value.Do you think we’ll let someone else decide what we’re worth? The world will change. Today’s treasure becomes tomorrow’s trash.
If being a good or bad citizen should follow majority rule,Then after a hundred years, we all just might be criminals. No matter. We don’t care. This world is broken beyond repair. We’ll just have to go back to the drawing board.
All in favor? All opposed?Weigh the pros and cons.Raise your hand to speak.
