When you are old and grey and full of sleep,And nodding by the fire, take down this book,And slowly read, and dream of the soft lookYour eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

Až přijde věk a šeď a spánků den,u krbu prober se, zvaž tento spis,začti se, zahloubej, zrak zastíněn,jak hebký lesk tvé oči měly kdys;
Těch bylo, co tě nenechali být,co milovali falešně či ryze,on měl rád Duši nestálou, tvůj cit,tesknou líc tvé proměnlivé vize.
Sehni se k mřížím žhnoucím pak, jen vzdych,posmutni, zašeptej, ten Láskou byl,odešel do hor dálných, nejvyšších,a v zástup hvězd svou tvář už navždy skryl.
